More than a Thousand Suspected Illegal Drug Users in CDO Promised to Make a Fresh Start

The Cagayan de Oro Police Office (COCPO) disclosed on Friday that 1,115 suspected drug personalities from eight barangays in the city have formally pledged to end their illegal drug use since operation Tokhang started last month.

"These 1,115 suspected drug personalities have taken an oath at their respective barangays through the Barangay Anti Drug Abuse Council (BADAC). They have come forward voluntarily. Right now we have received several information from other barangays that several more have expressed willingness to come forward and similarly take their oath and sign their respective waivers," said Police Superintendent Michael Deloso, spokesperson of COCPO.

Deloso explained that those who came forward and acknowledged their illegal drug use were not charged and brought to jail.

"Those who came out are given the chance to change their ways, and the effort is led by the BADAC in their respective barangays. They have pledged that they will not continue to use or be involved in any transaction that involves illegal drugs and that they will help support the program of President Rodrigo Duterte to expose illegal drug activities in their respective areas," said Deloso.
