We haven't captured entry number 7, because we have to go earlier to avoid the overwhelming traffic in the area specially after the last entry, where a huge crowd started to disperse from the area at the same time with only 3-4 exit roads to use.

Happy Fiesta Cagayan de Oro!

Gaisano-Centrio Overpass is Now Operational for Pedestrians

Gaisano-Centrio Overpass is now officially open for pedestrians' use. Early morning of August 26, 2016, all pedestrians trying to cross the Nazareno-Centrio pedestrian lane were prohibited to cross and being instructed to use the overpass instead.

Finally, pedestrians can now safely cross between two shopping malls with ease, considering the heavy foot traffic on this area during rush hours.

There will be a direct access from overpass to the 2nd floor of Gaisano Mall, but is still under construction at the moment.

Workers are still painting some parts of the overpass for the finishings and later today it will be fully operational.

Where to stay in Cagayan de Oro during the fiesta week?

Tourists in the Philippines would love to visit fiestas/festivals around the country because of its colorful theme and of course happy celebration. This month of August, there’s going to be a month-long celebration of events around Cagayan de Oro City. Since it’s fiesta week, there’s gonna be more Higalaay Festival events to be celebrated until the very end of August. But the most significant events of the week will be on the 27th and 28th of August.

There’s going to be Higalas Parade of Floats and Icons from Rodelsa Circle-Velez-CMRecto to Limketkai Center at 7:00AM of August 27 and Bisperas Fireworks Display at Duaw Kagay-an Park 8:00PM of the same date.

On the 28th there’s going to be a Religious Procession along Fernandez Street - Velez Street - Capistrano Street to St. Augustine Cathedral at 4:00AM and Fluvial Procession starting at Macajalar Bay to Cagayan River to Duaw Kagay-an Park in the morning of the same date.

If I am a tourist in CDO, where would I be staying considering the affordability and accessibility of the hotel to and from the events happening around? Well, I could highly recommend the Pacifico Boutique Hotel.

Here’s why:

"The Pacifico Boutique Hotel, a major landmark along the annual Higalaay Festival (Kagay-an Festival) parade route, has introduced a mega discounted promo rate for both their standard and deluxe rooms.

For only Php 1,499.00 (book and buy basis) and for a minimum of 2-night stay, guests can stay at The Pacifico CDO’s modern and spacious rooms equipped with 12-inch thick mattresses, bamboo silk sheets, blackout curtains, fast and FREE 100 Mbps wireless Internet, 40 inch wide screen cable TV, floor to ceiling view of the city and large bathrooms with hot and cold water running through rainshower heads. Each room also comes with FREE breakfast for two (2).

Just a few steps away from the starting point of the 2016 Higalaay Festival Higalas parade of floats and icons (August 27) as well as the St. Augustine religious procession (August 28), the Pacifico Boutique Hotel CDO has an airconditioned mezzanine where guests can comfortably view the parade comfortably.

Centrally located as it is only a stone’s throw away from major tourist spots such as Divisoria, Duaw Park, St. Augustine Cathedral, Gaston Park and City Museum, the Pacifico Hotel CDO is also known for the city’s only rooftop bar, E-Bar. This is where visitors can have the best urban sunset view while listening to cool rhythms courtesy of their in-house artists and enjoy the numerous cocktails, wines and hors d’oeuvres.

To avail of the promo rate, interested parties can call 09178644099 or 09985493629. They can also ‘like’ the official Facebook page  - http://www.facebook.com/pacificohotelcdo

The Pacifico Boutique Hotel is located at Velez corner Fernandez Streets, 9000 Cagayan de Oro City"

Catch up the Sunset at E-Bar. A rooftop bar located at the Pacifico Boutique Hotel Building.

That comfy bed makes me want to just stay all day long...

Gaston Park in CDO (Dancing Fountain)

Named after a pre-war Municipal Mayor of Cagayan de Oro, Segundo Gaston, the park is located near the St. Augustine Cathedral and the Archbishop’s Palace. Gaston Park was the main plaza of Cagayan de Misamis  during  the  Spanish  colonial period. It served as the training ground of local patriots during the Philippine-American War. Later it became the site of the Battle of Cagayan de Misamis on April 7, 1900. A National Historical Institute marker was placed in the park  in 2000. - cagayandeoro.gov.ph

This park eventually became an execution ground for Spanish criminals turned later into a training ground for the local revolutionaries during the American occupation. It has been redeveloped in recent years, with the worn grass being replaced by red tiles. In December 2015, the long-awaited Musical Fountain started running after some delays. -Wikipedia

Smart brings together the Eraserheads to go all out for a new, complete prepaid offer

[19 August 2016] Old school will always be cool. The comeback of trends from the 90’s —Pokémon, brown lipstick and Doc Martens boots — only shows it was the best era ever. It was also the golden age of Pinoy rock music.

And when you say Pinoy rock, the first band that comes to mind is the Eraserheads. Ely Buendia, Marcus Adoro, Raymund Marasigan, and Buddy Zabala are the four men behind the Eraserheads, one of the most important bands in the history of Pinoy rock music.

The last time the Eraserheads performed together on one stage was in 2009. Recently, Smart was able to bring them back together for a special private performance.

Individually, Ely, Marcus, Raymund, and Buddy are talented artists but together as the Eraserheads, they are legendary. Their time apart has only served to hone their talents and personalities. Other artists can perform Eraserheads songs well but no one can do “Magasin,” “Ang Huling El Bimbo,” Ligaya," and "Pare Ko" like the original.

And as they say, “iba talaga ‘pag kumpleto.” Whether it is entertainment or anything else, people look for the whole package. In the same way, Smart’s prepaid call and text bundles are awesome, and its surf bundles equally so. But if you combine call, text and mobile internet, you have the most comprehensive prepaid deal ever.

On August 19, the telco launches ALLOUTSURF 30, the first complete data, call and text, offer in the market. For Php 30, prepaid subscribers get 2 days of 300MB data with free access to Facebook, unlimited texts to all networks, and 30 minutes calls to Smart, TNT and Sun.

There is more.

“The All Out Surf campaign, like the Eraserheads' performances, will show how being complete is always the best thing, whether it refers to a band or a promo. Seeing them together brings back so many memories and shows the power of being complete," said Kathy C. Carag, Smart Mobile Business Head.

“Never miss out on anything that you’re passionate about, whether it’s your family members’ and friends’ posts on Facebook or browsing your favorite new websites. ALLOUTSURF 30 makes sure you’re connected when you need to be and don't miss out on anything important,” she added.

Now, there’s no need to choose between call, text, and mobile data. You can have it all with ALLOUTSURF 30, the first promo offer to give subscribers what they want and need.

If you’ve just booked an Uber ride home and you need to call or text your driver, no problem. You can also check your email messages and social messaging apps. Information is just a click or a swipe away with ALLOUTSURF 30.

“Smart's nationwide network makes sure you can keep in touch via call & text, and access the Internet for the things that matter like emails and online messages,” said Carag.

ALLOUTSURF 30 was created for today’s active digital users — from the student on a budget who always has to choose between two promos, or the young professional who always relies on Wi-Fi, to the grandma who loves to play Candy Crush and needs Facebook for “lives.”

For more information about ALLOUTSURF 30 and other promos, go to smart.com.ph/alloutsurf. To avail, text ALLOUT30 to 9999
