CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, June 14 (PIA)-- The city government is eyeing to develop the old Zayas Dumpsite, Cagayan de Oro City as an eco-park, which will be implemented under the Local Government Support Fund-Assistance to Cities (LGSF-AC).

In his letter to Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy, Mayor Oscar S. Moreno cited that under Local Budget Circular No. 116,  the city of Cagayan de Oro has an allocation of P35,063,595 to fund projects under its allowable menu.

He said the city has decided to submit for funding the EcoPark development of the old dumpsite in Carmen.

After completion of the closure components of the city-controlled dumpsite, the city plans to convert the closed mountain of trash into a green space and recreational park.

The P35 million project involves the enrichment of the open space to create sustainable and livable urban environment through turfing, landscaping and green space architecture.

P2.5 billion was appropriated for the LGSF-Assistance to Cities for fiscal year 2018 under General Appropriations Act (GAA), Republic Act No. 10964.

The amount is intended to support cities in the development of their respective open spaces.
Mayor Moreno also submitted the list of other projects for funding under the LGSF.

He said these projects were approved by the City Development Council (CDC) as part of the city’s Local Development Investment Program and 2018 Supplemental Annual Investment Plan.

Projects include  assistance to indigent patients and construction, concreting, rehabilitation, repair or improvement of some city roads.

The proposed resolution endorsing these projects was approved by the committee on public works during its meeting with its vice chair Councilor  Jay R. Pascual and submitted to the committee on laws and rules chaired by Councilor Ian Mark Q. Nacaya for appropriate action. (CdeOSP)
