Suspect of the 7Eleven Hostage Taking will Face Criminal Charges Today

The family of the 10-year-old girl who was held hostage last Saturday night, July 14, 2018 at the 7 Eleven convenient store in Barangay Kauswagan, will file a criminal case against Novie Salong today.

The suspect is from Mahinog, Camiguin Province. According to City Police Director Senior Supt. Nelson Aganon, the family of the suspect said that Salong is a drug user and probably that is the reason why he committed such crime last Saturday, he was under the influence of illegal drug. Aside from drug used, they also said that he has been depressed lately after his wife left him and went abroad to work.

He only surrendered to the police authority after the 3-hour hostage drama because his sister who is from Barangay Balulang negotiated that everything will be okay and that no one will hurt him if he will just surrender the 10-year-old girl to the authority.
