Chowking Kauswagan Drive-thru is now open. It is the first Chowking Drive-thru in Cagayan de Oro City and the 11th store in the city. They are giving FREE Chunky Asado Siopao for 1 year to the first 100 dine-in customers and FREE Asado Siopao for the first 100 drive-thru customers.

Kaon 'Ta 2018 Food and Travel Festival Showcasing Foods and Travel destinations in Region 10

Kaon "Ta! to Showcase CDO cuisine

A promising gastronomic extravaganza awaits visitors as the Department of Tourism (DOT) launch Kaon ‘Ta! 2018 Food and Travel Festival in Cagayan de Oro City this coming November 23-25.


DOT Secretary Bernadette Fatima Romulo-Puyat said food enthusiasts will be treated to a wide array of local cuisine, including exotic authentic Cagayan de Oro recipes to be presented by CDO’s prominent local chefs for degustacion of special guests.


32 exhibitors, including hotels and restaurants, farm resorts, agro industry groups, eco-farm adventure parks, transport operators, universities, and various LGU tourism offices will represent specialty food products, coffee, vegetables, juices, handicrafts and culinary tour packages.



Among the featured CDO chefs and their special recipes, include:

  • Chief Benjie Gaviola, Beef Rendang; 
  • Chef Chiko Arvin Cacanindin, Chicken Surol; 
  • Chef Pat Sabay III, Humba de Oro; 
  • Chef Cyril Balbuena, Sinuglaw and lnun-unan na Pidlayan; 
  • Chef Albert Chiu, Roast Beef and Binaki; and 
  • Chef Roseller S. Fiel, Chicken Piaparan (Halal).

Puyat said the series of events showcases the country’ s widely-diverse culinary culture all over the country, to create awareness and interest on distinct Filipino cuisine and tourism destinations.”Travel experience is really more fun when served with the fusion of the unique Filipino hospitality and delectable Filipino food,” said Puyat.



DOT Region 10 Director Marie Elaine Unchuan said the event will also feature unique local agricultural products, arts and crafts, and info kiosks on farm tourism sites in the region.

"Our region is the site of Kaamulan, the only authentic ethnic festival in the county that features the cultures of seven distinct tribes in Central Mindanao, namely Bukidnon, Higaonon, Talaandig, Manobo, Matigsalug, Tigwahanon and Umayamnon,” said Unchuan.



Unchuan also said the various tribes, the LGUs and private establishments, all being tourism stakeholders of the sustainable and inclusive tourism program, will participate in the food and travel festival.

She said the regional offices of the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Trade and Industry will put up their respective exhibits.

After its launching in Legazpi City and Cebu City last October, the CDO leg of the travel and food expo series gets its foot in the door of Mindanao ahead of the Kaon Na! edition in Davao City, Ayala Mall this December 7-9.

Kain Na! segments will also be held simultaneously on Dec. 7-9 at the Marquee Mall, Angeles City, Pampanga and at the Ayala Mall, Solenad, Laguna

M/V Lite Ferry 18 Launched for CDO-Cebu Route


With the launching of Lite Ferry 18 in CDO, you can now travel from CDO to Cebu and vice versa by boat for 9 hours. Lite Shipping Corp. president and CEO Lucio Lim Jr. proudly said that they have the fastest and newest vessel for the Cagayan-Cebu route.

Lite Ferry 18 is a 92 meters long and 17 meters wide coastwise type, roll-on-roll-off passenger ferry, it has a passenger capacity of 400 and cargo capacity of 17 trucks. As of today, Lite Shipping Corp. has been connecting Mindanao and Visayas with their 25 vessels and they will add 2 more new vessels by March 2019 and they will be planning to connect to South Luzon in the future.


Before, riding passengers has been complaining about the cleanliness and comfort of their travel with other vessels. With Lite Ferry 18, it is designed to get its passengers to their destination in a “very clean, comfortable and safe way.” according to Mr. Lucio Lim Jr.

The Philippine version of American Idol called Idol Philippines will be searching for a new idol and it will be debuting its first season on ABS-CBN soon.


They are now scouting for some talents in Cagayan de Oro City on November 22, 2018. This is open to 16-28 years old. If you are interested, please prepare a downloaded minus one music on your cellphone: 1 Tagalog and 1 English song. M/V Lite Ferry 18 Launching for the CDO-Cebu Route!

Good news sa mga Cagay-anons nga ga travel sa CDO-Cebu nga rota! It is now faster and cheaper to travel to Cebu with Lite Ferry 18!



The Lite Ferries management a.k.a “Ang Barkong Bol-anon” will be launching its biggest and latest acquisition, the 92-meter RO-RO passenger ship, Lite Ferry 18, plying the Cebu City to Cagayan de Oro route. To date it is the fastest vessel on the CDO-Cebu route with a travel time of 9 hours.

This Saturday, November 17, 2018, Lite Ferry 18 will finally be launched at the port of Cagayan de Oro City in Barangay Macabalan.

It has hotel-like features and amenities like an air-conditioned restaurant, canteen, information desk, chapel, state-of-the-art kitchen, etc.

Lite Ferry 18 leaves Cebu for Cagayan de Oro every Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:00 PM, while Cagayan de Oro to Cebu is scheduled every Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 7:00 PM.
