Mayor Oscar Moreno presented the boxing team at the flag raising ceremony yesterday, Monday, July 4, 2016. This is the cause of the suspension meted out by the Ombudsman. The complaint was filed by Puntod Brgy. Capt. Marvin Beja, a staunch political ally and follower of the defeated and former Mayor Dongkoy Emano.

In a post from Cagayan de Oro City Philippines FB Page says:

These boxers used to stay at the 2-story bldg beside CDO Water District in Corrales - now occupied by PCSO. It was built by the Provincial Government when Mayor Moreno was then the Governor of Misamis Oriental in partnership with ABAP and Smart. It was fully equipped with quarters.

The young boxers were sent to school while on training. When the current Governor Bambi Emano took over in 2013, the boxers were displaced because they wanted to follow Mayor Moreno in CDO because Bambi has no clear boxing program.

CDO has no boxing gym so Mayor Moreno rented this space in Aluba. The City Council was uncooperative. They did not approve the proposed Executive Budget of Mayor Moreno for the Sports Development Program.

The Local Finance Committee sought for ways to fund the boxing program. Savings from an unspent appropriation in the past admin which is already covered by an Appropriation Ordinance was used to augment for the lease of the space. Puntod Brgy. Capt Marvin Beja, a staunch political ally and follower of Padayon Pilipino filed a case at the Ombudsman. One of the string of cases the Emano camp filed in court with the sole intention of demolishing Moreno, remove him from office and take back City Hall.

This boxing program has produced boxing pro Jason Pagara and some of them are already in the national pool of ABAP. Imagine if Mayor Moreno did not pursue this program. Mayor Moreno hopes and dreams of producing an Olympian. In contrast, during the Emano admin, there was no sports program to speak of.

Mayor Oscar Moreno on the Graft Charges against him by Emano camp:

“His (Emano) heart is bleeding because he knows that as a result of any service I give to the people, he is drawn away from them. He fears being compared to me," Moreno said during his radio program.

Moreno describes the cases being orchestrated by former mayor Emano against him as incessant, unrelenting, and vicious. He tells supporters he stands on strong legal ground.
