It’s the month of August. People are excited to celebrate the city fiesta which will happen on the 28th of this month. During this season, a large number of tourists are expected, banderitas will be visible along the main streets of the city. Vibrant colors painted the city as decorations bloom on every corner of some major attractions.

All month long of August, you can visit the Gaston Park located near the Saint Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral, to experience Garden Show and Agri Fair. It is like bringing the products of the region in one convention, to showcase it to the visitors.

If you want some cowboy adventure, try Cowboy Festival on August 18-20 at the Uptown area near SM Mall. It is an annual Horse Show where cowboys compete for events such as Barrel Race, Obstacle Race, Oval Race, Pole Bending and you can even ride horses for a minimum fee to experience what it feels to be a cowboy.

For the runners, how about joining the Kagay-an Festival Marathon 2017 on August 20, where you can run on selected races such as 5K, 10K, 21K and 42K. Race location will be at Centrio Mall, Capt. A synchronized chanting, shouting and dancing to the beat of a carnival party music! Here you can also join the dancers as they dances along the street. The street will be filled with colorful carnival costume, so make sure to match them with your outfit.

On the following day, you need to wake up earlier because another street activity will be held as the Higalaay Street Parade and Floats happen. It’s a parade of everything in Cagayan de Oro City.

Those things that I mentioned above are just a few that you can do in Cagayan de Oro City, so please don’t just focus on the things that I wrote. Be bold, be free to explore the city. One thing that I can advice for travelers in the city of Golden Friendship is to be adventurous, you can try other things other than the recommended, because you might discover great adventure on your own or you can ask some locals. There are also springs, falls, beautiful beaches and resorts that you can try. I’ll update about them soon here, so watch out for it.

Have a great adventure/vacation in the City of Golden Friendship.
