10th Year Celebration of the Traslacion of the Black Nazarene in CDO



Every January 9, the Traslación of the Black Nazarene in Cagayan de Oro City has been held since 2009 when an official replica of the image given by the Minor Basilica to the Nazareno Church in CDO.

Since then, the Traslacion of the Replica of the Black Nazarene in Cagayan de Oro City has been held peacefully and the number of devotees grows every year. An estimated of more than 250,000 devotees attended this year's Traslacion, according to COCPO. The procession lasted for about 2 and a half hour started at the St. Augustine Metropolitan Cathedral following the Velez Street turned right at C.M. Recto Avenue straight to the Nazareno Church.



The Traslacion of the replica of the Black Nazarene in Cagayan de Oro City is the largest similar procession outside Manila, and it has been the choice of some devotees in the nearby places in Mindanao and Visayas area, because of the peaceful procession being held annually for 10 years now.

There were no untoward incident was reported during the two-kilometer procession and participants behaved well, according to Chief Insp. Mardy Hortillosa, spokesperson for the Cagayan de Oro City police office.
