Solane Kitchen Hero: Chef’s Edition aims to discover the next big name in the culinary world. They must be currently employed as a professional chef in a hotel, restaurant, or any food-service establishment.



Here in Cagayan de Oro leg for the Northern Mindanao and Caraga Region, prominent chefs from different leading restaurants and hotels joined the competition from around Northern Mindanao and Caraga Region, vying for the Regional Title to be able to compete in the semi-finals, where qualifiers will move on to the grand finals for the final cook-off to be named as the Ultimate Champion of Solane Kitchen Hero Chef’s Edition. The grand winner will take home P100,000 and will embark on a culinary trip to Japan with customized stops at different food and drink destinations.

Basing on the following criteria: 50% featured ingredients, where the recipe must include at least one local ingredient inherent to the province and 50% originality and creativity, where participants must creatively show a tested recipe which corresponds to the local ingredients being used.


The judges are the following: Solane Kitchen Hero Ambassador Chef Sau del Rosario and best-selling author and Solane Kitchen Hero Competition director Nancy Reyes-Lumen.

After a challenging cook-off afternoon, two chefs came out as Regional Winners for Cagayan de Oro leg. They are Chef Paolo Lumbres and Chef June Rey Tunog.
