Solane Kitchen Hero: Chef’s Edition - The Search for NorthMin and Caraga Region's Best Chef!

The leading LPG solutions brand in the country, Solane held the grandest culinary competition nationwide - The "Solane Kitchen Hero: Chef’s Edition" with a series of regional cook-offs in different regions in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The last leg was in Cagayan de Oro City during the Kumbira Masters 2019 last August 15, 2019 at Limketkai Atrium.

Solane Kitchen Hero: Chef’s Edition aims to discover the next big name in the culinary world. For this one-of-a-kind cook-off, participants must be Filipino professional chefs with at least three (3) years of kitchen experience gained locally or abroad. They must be currently employed as a professional chef in a hotel, restaurant, or any food-service establishment.

Here in Cagayan de Oro leg for the Northern Mindanao and Caraga Region, prominent chefs from different leading restaurants and hotels joined the competition from around Northern Mindanao and Caraga Region, vying for the Regional Title to be able to compete in the semi-finals, where qualifiers will move on to the grand finals for the final cook-off to be named as the Ultimate Champion of Solane Kitchen Hero Chef’s Edition. The grand winner will take home P100,000 and will embark on a culinary trip to Japan with customized stops at different food and drink destinations.

Basing on the following criteria: 50% featured ingredients, where the recipe must include at least one local ingredient inherent to the province and 50% originality and creativity, where participants must creatively show a tested recipe which corresponds to the local ingredients being used.

The judges are the following: Solane Kitchen Hero Ambassador Chef Sau del Rosario and best-selling author and Solane Kitchen Hero Competition director Nancy Reyes-Lumen.

After a challenging cook-off afternoon, two chefs came out as Regional Winners for Cagayan de Oro leg. They are Chef Paolo Lumbres and Chef June Rey Tunog.

They will represent Northern Mindanao and Caraga Regions on the upcoming Solane Kitchen Hero Chef’s Edition Semi-finals cook-off next month on September 6, 2019 at ETON Centris in Metro Manila.
