China Bank Savings Boosts Support for Filipino Teachers with ₱15-Million National Teachers Month Commitment

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — As the country prepares to celebrate National Teachers Month and National Teachers’ Day, China Bank Savings (CBS) is strengthening its support for Filipino educators through increased donations, digital banking innovations, expanded access to financial services, and financial wellness programs.

For 2026, CBS is committing a total of ₱15 million in donations to support programs throughout the nationwide celebration—more than 36 percent higher than its ₱11-million contribution in 2025. The bank said its annual support for the Department of Education (DepEd) through National Teachers Month has increased fivefold since 2021, representing 400 percent growth over five years.

The increased commitment comes as CBS continues to recognize the important role teachers play in shaping the country’s future.

Making Banking Easier for Educators

Beyond its financial contributions, CBS is also investing in digital solutions designed specifically to make banking more convenient for teachers.

One of its latest initiatives is the APD Smart App, which marks a major step in the digitalization of the bank’s Automatic Payroll Deduction (APD) Program.

Through the app, educators can conveniently manage their loan accounts and access essential services anytime and anywhere. CBS said the initiative is designed to provide faster, simpler, and more efficient banking solutions that respond to the evolving needs of Filipino teachers.

The bank is also continuing to expand its APD Digital Desk, bringing its services closer to educators across the country while improving accessibility and the overall customer experience.

At the same time, CBS is expanding its Retail Banking network and APD Lending Centers, with additional branches and lending centers being opened in strategic locations nationwide.

Helping Teachers Build Financial Wellness

Financial education is another major focus of CBS’ support for educators.

Through its continuing Financial Wellness Roadshow, conducted in partnership with Schools Division Offices and educational institutions, the bank provides teachers with practical information on responsible financial management, savings, investments, and long-term financial planning.

For 2026, the program aims to reach 2,000 educators.

According to CBS, 985 faculty and staff had already participated in financial wellness seminars earlier in the year. Additional sessions are scheduled throughout September as part of National Teachers Month, with the bank expecting to reach its 2,000-educator target.

CBS President James Christian T. Dee said the bank's growing support for DepEd, financial wellness initiatives, and investments in both digital and physical access reflect its goal of remaining a reliable partner to educators while helping teachers move toward greater financial wellness and, ultimately, financial freedom.

CBS FVP II Niel C. Jumawan likewise emphasized that supporting educators goes beyond providing financial products, highlighting the importance of innovation, accessibility, and programs that can contribute to teachers’ financial well-being.

National Teachers’ Month and Teachers’ Day Celebrations

CBS is also set to officially kick off this year’s nationwide National Teachers Month festivities alongside the President of the Republic of the Philippines, reaffirming its partnership with DepEd and the teaching community.

The celebration recognizes the contribution of Filipino educators to nation-building while highlighting initiatives aimed at supporting the education sector.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway for National Teachers’ Day in October 2026, where CBS plans to honor educators through activities, special recognitions, and prizes celebrating their dedication and service to the country.

With its expanded support, digital initiatives, and financial wellness programs, China Bank Savings is positioning its partnership with educators around more than traditional banking services—focusing instead on accessibility, financial education, and helping teachers build a more financially resilient future.

CBS currently serves educators, SMEs, salaried workers, and retail customers nationwide through 190 branches, 107 lending centers and branch-lite units, 299 ATMs, and digitally enabled customer touchpoints. Its brand promise remains: “Easy Banking for You.”

For Filipino teachers, this year’s National Teachers Month celebration comes with another reminder that supporting educators can also mean helping them become more financially prepared, empowered, and resilient.
