AgriTalk 2019 CDO Leg was Attended by Almost 700 people at SM CDO Downtown Premier

Almost 700 people attended AgriTalk’s CDO leg, showing that a lot of Filipinos want to be farmers or are interested about farming. Last Friday, May 24, 2019,  a one-day seminar to promote urban agriculture was held at SM CDO Downtown Premier, where topics such as Beekeeping , Mushroom Production and Squarefoot Gardening has been discussed.

Squarefoot Gardening discussion was headed by the Ten Outstanding Farmers (TOFARM) Awardee Col. Honorio Cervantes of Pagatpat, Cagayan de Oro City. He is a well-requested speaker all over the country when it comes to squarefoot gardening, his 300 sqm farm devoted to squarefoot gardening has been a popular destination for agri-enthusiasts.

For Beekeeping discussion, it was headed by Dr. Maria Dulce Mostoles of Central Bicol State Unversity Regional Apiculture Center. She is an active advocate in the promotion of beekeeping using stingless bees.

DA-RFO 10’s Technical Expert on Mushroom May Shell Tumilap also delivered an in-depth talks and discussed about the techniques on mushroom production, from media preparation to post-harvest and all the neccessary maintenance in order to have a healthy mushroom production.

This was the second AgriTalk conducted this year. The first one was held last March at SM Puerto Princesa, Palawan where topics discussed include Beekeeping , Mushroom Production and Hydroponics. Two more AgriTalks are scheduled to be conducted on the 3rd  and 4th quarters this year at Cebu City and Cavite respectively.

AgriTalk 2019 is a collaboration of Manila Bulletin, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) and SM Corporation. ATI Northern Mindanao is a member-agency of NOMCAARRD.
