DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade and Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Jay Santiago lead the inauguration of Opol Port in Brgy. Luyong Bonbon, Misamis Oriental.
Opol Port has a yard area of 7,000 square meters and 150 meters berth length.
The port development project, which started on March 7, 2017 and was completed on June 2, 2019, includes the construction of reinforce concrete (RC) wharf, back up area and access road, and supply and installation of port lighting system.
Opol Port is designed to serve as a back-up port to help decongest the port of Cagayan de Oro. This will cater mainly to cargo vessels.
Also present in the event are DOTr Usec. for Maritime Andoy Perez, Usec. for Finance Garry De Guzman, Usec. for Aviation and Airports Manuel Antonio Tamayo, Usec. for Road Transport and Infrastructure Mark de Leon, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Chairman Martin Delgra III, LTFRB Board Member Antonio Gardiola Jr., Opol Municipal Mayor Maximino Seno, and first Opol Port users Asia Brewery and San Miguel Corporation.
