Bagyong Auring! Dagsa sa mga Patay nga isda! Pag pula sa tubig dagat!

Bagyong Auring!

But the most common cause of fish kills are the reduced oxygen in the water, which in turn may be due to factors such as drought, algae bloom, overpopulation, or a sustained increase in water temperature. Infectious diseases and parasites can also lead to fish kill. Toxicity is a real but far less common cause of fish kill. Fish kills are often the first visible signs of environmental stress and are usually investigated as a matter of urgency by environmental agencies to determine the cause of the kill.

Safe ba kaha kaonon tong mga isda nga gipanghakot na raba sa mga katawhan, basin gipang prito, gi bulad, giginamos, gikilaw ug gipang inun-unan na to karun.

By: DOST-PAGASA Weather Specialist: Aldczar D. Aurelio

"AURING" WEAKENS INTO TROPICAL STORM AND IS NOW BEGINNING TO MOVE WESTWARD.

SEVERE WEATHER BULLETIN #7

FOR: TROPICAL STORM "#AuringPH" (DUJUAN)

TROPICAL CYCLONE: WARNING

ISSUED AT 5:00 PM, 19 February 2021

(Valid for broadcast until the next bulletin to be issued at 11 PM today)

"AURING" WEAKENS INTO TROPICAL STORM AND IS NOW BEGINNING TO MOVE WESTWARD.

Hazards affecting land areas:

Heavy Rainfall:

• Until tonight, light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Caraga, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao del Norte.

• Tomorrow, moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over Caraga, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao del Norte. Light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Eastern and Central Visayas, the rest of Northern Mindanao, Lanao del Sur, Cotabato, and Davao City.

• On Sunday, moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Visayas, Caraga, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, and Bukidnon. Light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Romblon, the rest of Northern Mindanao, Lanao del Sur, Cotabato, Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao de Oro, and Davao Oriental.

• Under these conditions, scattered to widespread flooding (including flash floods) and rain-induced landslides are likely during heavy or prolonged rainfall especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps. Adjacent or nearby areas may also experience flooding in the absence of such rainfall occurrence due to surface runoff or swelling of river channels. PAGASA Regional Services Divisions may issue local thunderstorm/rainfall advisories and heavy rainfall warnings while the Hydrometeorology Division and River Basin Flood Forecasting and Warning Centers may issue General Flood Advisories and Basin Flood Bulletins as appropriate.

Strong Winds

• The surge of the Northeast Monsoon is already bringing strong breeze to near-gale conditions with occasionally higher gusts over Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, especially in coastal and mountainous areas. The affected localities include those currently under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal #1. However, strong breeze to near-gale conditions directly associated with “AURING” will likely begin to prevail over the wind signal areas on Saturday at the earliest.

• More localities in Caraga and Davao Region may be placed under TCWS #1 in the next bulletin. Based on current meteorological data, the highest level of wind signal that will be issued throughout the passage of “AURING” is TCWS #2 (for potentially damaging gale-force to storm-force winds).

Hazards affecting coastal waters:

• In the next 24 hours, rough to high seas (3.0 to 7.0 m) will be experienced over the eastern seaboard of Mindanao. Rough to very rough seas are also expected over the seaboards of Luzon, Visayas, and the northern seaboard of Mindanao (2.8 to 5.0 m). Sea travel is risky for all types of sea vessels over these waters.

• Moderate to rough seas (1.2 to 3.0 m) will be experienced over the rest of the seaboards of the country. Mariners of small seacrafts are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea. Inexperienced mariners should avoid navigating in these conditions.

Track and intensity outlook:

• Tropical Storm “AURING” will move generally westward over the next 12 hours before turning northwestward tomorrow morning while accelerating. It is forecast to make landfall over the eastern coast of Caraga Region on Sunday (21 February) morning. On the forecast track, the storm will likely follow a generally northwestward path as it traverses Caraga Region, Visayas, and MIMAROPA on Sunday and Monday.

• “AURING” weakened into Tropical Storm at 2:00 PM today

• Possible re-intensification into Severe Tropical Storm is likely prior to landfall. However, further intensification into a typhoon within the forecast period remains less likely as of this time. “AURING” will likely weaken while crossing the archipelago due to significant terrain interaction and dry air intrusion from the Northeast Monsoon.

Location of eye/center At 4:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Storm "AURING" was estimated based on all available data at 405 km East Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (6.9°N, 129.7°E).

  • Strength Maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 105 km/h.
  • Movement Moving Westward at 15 km/h.

Coca-Cola inaugurates new Davao manufacturing line in support of Mindanao’s growth journey

BETTER DAYS AHEAD. Coca-Cola unveiled its most advanced manufacturing line for returnable glass bottles (RGB) at its Davao del Sur plant last February 4, 2021.

Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc. (CCBPI)—the bottling arm of Coca-Cola in the country-- recently unveiled at its Davao del Sur plant its most advanced manufacturing line for returnable glass bottles (RGB) in the country. Employing the most advanced technologies, the new RGB line has a greater production capacity—further improving on the Company’s service to its customers and contributing to the bid to spur local and national economic recovery.

“Our investments in 2020 went into ensuring that we can continue to care for our people, secure jobs, and expand our operations, particularly in the Mindanao region,” said Gareth McGeown, CEO and President of CCBPI during the inauguration. He added, “With this new line, we celebrate a milestone not just for the company, but for the region and the country. Today is a testament of the better days that lie ahead of all of us.”

INNOVATION FOR WORLD-CLASS OPERATIONS. CCBPI Davao del Sur Plant Manager Joy Beleno shares how the new line ensures improved efficiency, productivity, safety, and quality through world-class technology such as in-line monitoring systems for real-time data capture and analytics.

The inauguration ceremony held on February 4, 2021 was attended by Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur Mayor Jaime G. Lao Jr., who was also given a tour by plant officials. The event, spearheaded by the plant leadership team led by Plant Manager Joy Beleno, observed strict health protocols. Adapting to the new normal, Coca-Cola executives based in Manila joined the ceremony virtually.

“We continue to remain strong as a business. We at Coca-Cola know that it hasn’t been easy, but with the support of the IATF, the DTI, and local government partners such as Mayor Lao, and, of course, our people—we’ve been able to emerge stronger from 2020,” said Atty. Juan Lorenzo Tañada, Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Director of CCBPI.

Accelerating Mindanao’s growth journey

A MILESTONE FOR MINDANAO AND THE COUNTRY. Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, Inc. (CCBPI) CEO and President Gareth McGeown joins the inauguration ceremony virtually, sharing Coca-Cola’s commitment to continue caring for its people, securing jobs, and supporting growth in the region.

Paving the way toward a better future through its investments, Coca-Cola is determined to support Mindanao’s growth journey and continue serving its 25M-strong population. Coca-Cola’s presence in the region is powered by four plants—in Davao City, Davao del Sur, Misamis Oriental, and Zamboanga—alongside nine distribution and sales offices, and supported by 3,200 partners and wholesalers.

“Our footprint in Mindanao is expansive, with some of our most advanced plants operating in the region. The products we manufacture here in Davao Del Sur reach as far as Luzon and Visayas, and this is why we are committed to continue strengthening Mindanao’s manufacturing infrastructure,” said Frank Garcia, Manufacturing Director of CCBPI.

STRENGTHENED MANUFACTURING INFRASTRUCTURE. CCBPI Manufacturing Director Frank Garcia envisions the region’s growth as the Company further expands and strengthens its manufacturing infrastructure in Mindanao.

Davao del Sur’s newest manufacturing line joins the ranks of the lines in Zamboanga and Misamis Oriental in employing world-class technologies—among them, in-line monitoring systems for real-time data capture and analytics, toward improved efficiency, productivity, safety, and quality. Together, these advanced lines are projected to boost the Mindanao manufacturing capacity by 30%.

“You've seen how our dream of expanding operations in Mindanao came to life through our great people and the great support of our partners and the national and local government,” said CCBPI Supply Chain Vice President Matthias Von Oelhafen. “It took us months, from planning to commissioning, to commercial run. This has a ripple effect—job generation and more opportunities for the people in Mindanao. We will do our best to keep [our Davao del Sur plant] not just one of our best plants in the country, but world-class.”

The video of the new manufacturing line’s first operational run last September 2020 and the first Coca-Cola bottle it produced was also presented during the inauguration event.

ACCELERATING TOGETHER. Mayor Jaime G. Lao Jr. of Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur joins CCBPI Manufacturing Commercial leaders in VisMin during the inauguration of Coca-Cola’s new manufacturing line. From left to right: Commercial Unit Director for SouthEast Mindanao Bong Neri, Mayor Jaime G. Lao Jr, incoming Manufacturing Unit Director for VisMin Ramey Clavecillas, outgoing Manufacturing Unit Director for VisMin Louie Ytol, and Plant Manager Joy Beleno.

Thriving with Mindanaoans

The Company has always strived to forge meaningful partnerships and develop sustainable initiatives for local communities. Working together with the local government units of Davao City and Siargao— Coca-Cola has been able to pilot programs that advance its global World Without Waste commitment which aims to collect and recycle every single bottle and can the company sells by 2030.

As part of its COVID response for the region, the Company has provided over 300,000 liters of beverage support worth over PHP46M. To help ensure a resilient value chain, the Company has instituted various commercial initiatives to aid partners and customers in the region, including special credit policies and incentives for partners so they can continue operations and secure local jobs.

COCA-COLA’S MOST ADVANCED RGB LINE IN THE PH. CCBPI Davao del Sur Plant Manager Joy Beleno led the plant tour for Mayor Jaime G. Lao Jr.

Coca-Cola has likewise opened opportunities for OFWs nationwide through the Balik Pinas project; provided livelihood and a P10,000 loan to over 3,000 micro-retailers in the region through the reSTART program; as well as assisted partners operating in the new normal through the Safe Stores program.

CCBPI has always been committed to its putting people first—always prioritizing the total well-being of its associates and their families. For instance, the Company allotted PHP2B for its employee assistance fund to secure the jobs of all of its 10,000 employees across the country during the height of the community quarantine.

With notable investments and huge growth potential within and beyond Mindanao, Coca-Cola continues to remind Filipinos that the best days are truly ahead of them. CCBPI’s commitment to the Philippines has never wavered, and as McGeown noted, it has only, in fact, strengthened the company’s resolve to do much, much better.
